Wonderful weekend

I seem to live for weekends at the moment: i suppose it's because the weather is still so warm and sunny. The last two Saturdays has seen my at the Serpentine in Hyde Park and both times I sat and enjoyed the late summer weather, and trying to keep some semblance of a tan!!!

Yesterday Averil and I drove down to Whitstable and even managed a walk on the beach. The sun shone and we even at lunch at a pavement cafe. At a fishermen's/farmers' market we bought hot smoked salmon (much nicer than the cold smoked version in my opinion) and diced venison (delicious for an autumnal stew) and some spicy venison sausages.

Here's Averil with some of the houses we covet - the sea views are spectacular

The sea was cold, but that didn't stop us going in for a paddle, and getting wet!!!

Who says it's only the young who can do silly things? As Averil said in my birthday card "i believe that everyone else my age is an adult, whereas i am merely in disguise" The quote actually is attributable to Margaret Atwood.

But it's not just at weekends that I'm having fun. Last Tuesday was the opening of Divo - a Ukranian restaurant in the west end. Security was the strictest I've experienced at an event of this type, but the champange and vodka excellent and the food ... well, it got better as the evening progressed and the tiny lamb cutlets were mouthwateringly delicious.
