I can't believe it's April already. I can't believe it's been five months since my last Skybox show (Mixtape closed October 26).
We had a helluva opening. 84 people packed in to the sold-out free show on Friday. People enjoyed it overall, although it turned out to be a bit on the long side (especially for a sketch show). This Friday is the second and last of our free shows unless Matt, our writer, decides to buy out the third weekend too (April 18), which is also the night we are filming the show for DVD. Major production on this: three-camera setup and everything. The guy is taking us all out to Gibson's Steakhouse on Tuesday for a cast party. On him. This is insane.
I only have a short play and the original show I'm writing with Noelle as definite gigs on the horizon, so I have a lot more nights free to relax and focus on writing for a while.
I got bad news last week: My camcorder that I've had for the last five years (that I made all my videos on) seems to finally have died. I no longer see or hear anything when I play a tape in it, making video transfer impossible. So no more Basil episodes for a while. Or original videos. I really don't want to get deeper into credit card debt by buying another camcorder. Maybe that's what I'll do with my tax rebate.
Definitely going to the Grand Canyon May 18-23. It's going to be a great experience. Right now, I'll be by my lonesome, which might be a good idea but also may throw me into the depths of loneliness, too. Expect many calls from me during that trip, people.
