No joy in Wrigleyville

As the Cubs are losing another game, I read this article, which pretty much says it all for today's Cub fan.

It's interesting because of the recent streak of curse-breaking teams. The Red Sox broke their 86 year World Series draught in 2004. The White Sox broke their 88 year skid in 2005. And in 2006... well, it looks like the Chicago Cubs will indeed hit their milestone of 100 years without a World Series championship.

It was nice to say for years, "well at least we're not doing as bad as so-and-so team". Even earlier this year, at least we weren't Kansas City or Pittsburgh. But the Cubs aren't far behind them. They're the third worst team in baseball right now. It's even tougher when the second BEST team in baseball is just across town.

There are about three more months left in the season. But I'm starting to think that sometimes we have to experience the very worst before we can get the very best.
