In honor of this comm cracking 50 members, I'd like to shine some light on the root of Adama goodness, Edward James Olmos. Following is an excerpt from an article in the brand spanking new Official Battlestar Galactica magazine. These words SO speak to why I'm a fan of the actor, as well as the character.
Olmos’ passion for Battlestar Galactica is palpable and to be frank, it’s hard to imagine him remaining in the role of Adama if he felt otherwise. For the second year, he has signed for the seven extra episodes of season two, meaning that the time he is able to spend on his own projects and his charity work has been reduced even more.
“This cuts into the normal stuff that I’m doing, and now that they want to do 20 instead of 13, it’s been very difficult for me,” the actor explains. “I’m supposed to be directing a movie right now ... It’s a very important film that we have been trying to do for five years.”
Despite his reduction of time on personal projects, Olmos is adamant that he will stick with Battlestar Galactica for just as long as it continues being as important as it has been to date.
“The only way I’ll stop working on it is if the show isn’t picked up any more,” Olmos promises, “and the only way this show won’t be picked up any more is if the writers can’t write. If they lose their authority and integrity. Then the show will self-destruct and I can go out the door. I’m proud of this show. This is some of the most innovative television that I have seen in a while.”
I will post more excerpts as I can be arsed to type the stuff up. The article is 4 pages long, not counting the sidebar!
