Yesterday I went to an adoption party:
Jacob has two mommies! I wanted to make Jacob an
amigurumi turkey to mark the occasion, since Thanksgiving is almost upon us and his mom Caroline has expressed interest in Thanksgiving with the turkeys, but this was a last-minute invitation and I couldn't seem to get myself motivated. So I brought him one of my
many, many amigurumi candy corn kernels, along with an
amigurumi corn cob I made a while ago and stupidly neglected to photograph.* Caroline helped him unwrap his present, and he immediately grabbed the candy corn and stuffed it in his mouth. Yay! He's nine months old, which is how old
baby O was when she got her candy corn rattle. Apparently this pattern comes out the perfect size for a nine-month-old hand and mouth. And it only takes about an hour to make, so as baby gifts go it is Sheer. Perfection.
So in the midst of Prop 8 yuckiness, moms are adopting babies. Babies are nomming crocheted candy corn. Life is good. The party was not wheelchair accessible, which sucked, but I'm still glad I went and represented the family.
*I made a yellow cob and green husk, and added a smiling face. I didn't turn the cob inside out as directed, because it seemed annoying and pointless.
thedeepquiet has told me I have to make another one to replace the one I gave Jacob, so I guess I'll photograph that one, when I get to it.
