Joan Baez is too radical and scary for Walter Reed.  It seems that John Mellencamp was giving a performance for the injured troops, and he invited his pal Joan to tag along.  The army brass said no way -- ostensibly because her invite was too last-minute.  Riiight.  Anyway, she was bummed about not being allowed to perform, but I think she should be proud, too.

The Times is so cute -- saying the troops are too young to know Mimi Farina from Cream of Wheat.  That makes me feel old.

And yet They (not the identical They, but still The Man) let Johnny Cash sing "San Quentin" at San Quentin.  The Powers That Be are so weird.
