Annie was deciding that she was not a fan of the whole 'people leaving' thing. But she stopped by Bruce's room anyway, knocking at the door and poking her head in. "So you're all ready, huh?"

"Pretty much," Bruce said, giving Annie a hello nod. "There's not much left to do but wait for a shuttle to pick me up and catch up with people before I go."

"It's not going to be the same around here without you," she said. Like she wouldn't be gone on Friday. Details.

"They'll be saying the same about you," Bruce said. "If I can be so bold, I think everyone will be right about both of us."

Sure, go ahead and stroke her ego there, Bruce.

"Oh. Well... maybe you're right," she said, totally failing at modesty. "How much longer before you go?"

"Another hour or two," Bruce said. "Hopefully enough time for me to say all of the goodbyes I need to," Bruce said.

Well, everything down to the shuttle was dependent only on his whim. Private jet and all. But pretending there was an actual fixed schedule kept things moving along so he wouldn't loiter around.

"Which is probably a lot of people," Annie assumed. He was really popular, okay?

"Not so many that I don't have plenty of time to spend with each one," Bruce said. Such was the vagueness of timing in RP. "You're only here a few more days, right?"

"Till Friday," she nodded. "I'm waiting for the last possible second to go."

Because home wasn't fun and thinking about getting herself all set up on her own could easily cause a stress headache and she was trying not to do that.

"Sounds reasonable to me," Bruce said. "It also lets you stagger your goodbyes a little more. I should have considered that before letting people know they had a limited window. If too many more people do show, I might actually start to get emotional."

"Awww," she said, totally believing that he would. "It'll just show how much people will miss you."

[willbethenight]

"That's actually an unexpected benefit to leaving," Bruce said. "You get a nice ego boost as people try to make sure you stay in touch."

"Speaking of which, I do expect to hear updates on how your plans are going."

"You will get them!" Annie assured him. "And I want to hear how things are going back home. We can be like email buddies."

"Considering that most of the people I've promised to keep in touch with can't really use e-mail for a variety of reasons, that would actually be a nice change of pace," Bruce said instead of calling Annie a dork.

"Good!" she said happily. "Well, I should probably let you get to everything... Do we hug?"

Bruce considered that for a moment. "I don't think I was going to, but it might be more awkward not to after you asked that."
