It wasn't a year. Not exactly. A year had been a more formal occasion with a party and guests and dressing up and people doing bows and curtseys and Willow worrying about whether, if she had food stuck in her teeth, would anyone let her know or would they be too polite to mention it or, worse, would they think it was some kind of new fashion craze which would be all kinds of bad considering what some of the subjects of Narnia considered a good meal and suffice it to say that the thought of it made a stray piece of spinach seem insignificant in comparison.
Point being that it was nice and all for what it was, and it was always of the good to have Narnians happy about Rosenberg-Pevensie family matters since by definition happy meant not inclined to go on witch hunts that involved actual hunting with weapons and fire.
But at the same time big parties were not the same as family gatherings. Which was why it had been decided that, on a quieter day that wouldn't cause anyone offense, there would be a smaller celebration.
Willow had taken it upon herself to ready the guest of honor. Which was a task she normally would have enjoyed, but she currently found herself fretting over it.
"I want to support you in anything that you want to be or do," Willow told her now one year and one week old daughter, "I mean I do support you, assuming what you want isn't anything fatal or evil or anything like that. But stuff like whatever career you want or not want or favorite colors or books is all woo, yay, okay by me. You do not have to do things just because society says that girls have to be a certain way. And I want you to know that and be all actions speaking louder than words about it. But so help me this frilly dress is so freaking cute I may not be able to help myself."
"Mama!" Susie replied. It was her only opinion on the subject.
