Winter in Narnia could be a tiny bit scary if, as for example, you were a witch. But it could also be filled with the joy of fluffy snowflakes, warm woolen items of both mitten and non-mitten varieties, hot cocoa, and playing while safe in the knowledge that between being a queen and being a witch, there was no chance of there not being enough hot water for a soothing bath later.
...because she could heat the water with her magic. Not because she'd use her magic to threaten people to give her water. That she'd only do if somebody was trying to keep something from Alex.
Fortunately none of this was a concern. Instead there was the concern of keeping one eye on Alex as he tried to make snowballs, and another on Kel as the fennec fox tried not to disappear into a snowdrift.
