Peter & Willow's bedroom, Cair Paravel, Wednesday evening

Willow had had a long day, what with an early wake up call on behalf of someone who had felt very eager to meet the family.

Which was why, now, Willow was resting with her ohmygodactuallybornandrealnow son swaddled up and also resting nearby.

There was also a wee fennec fox on top of a bureau so that he could watch over everything

Where there is a Bridge, there's...presumably a river or other gap-like area that requires a safe mode of traverse, preferably with guardrails.

But also a Xander, because like he wouldn't be right behind and only letting Bridge knock because he's got the quieter knuckles what with the gloves and all.

"So I hear your tenant moved out?" he directed towards Willow with a bright grin.

"Alex!" Willow said, proudly indicating the baby in his bassinet. "Alex, this is Xander, who you are in part named after. Xander, this is the human being who used to be inside of me."

Xander laid a hand on the edge of the bassinet and... tried not to loom. "Hi, kiddo. As a birthday present, I'm not encouraging your mom to figure out how much back-rent you owe her."

"He can pay in cute, which he has in spades," Willow said. "Though spades seem like such an inefficient way of storing things. Why not have them in boxes, or even bags? Oh, and that's Kel, the baby monitor." Willow indicated the fennec fox on the bureau.

Xander was so Fandom-immune to cute animals showing up in unexpected places that he just tilted his head slightly. "He's trying to out-cute my nephew," he said, in tones that weren't so far off from Lucy's when using that phrase. "Is that allowed? There's gotta be some law, right?"

"I'm here to monitor the prince," Kel explained to Xander. He seemed very proud of this fact. "It's my job to raise an alert if the prince needs something."

"This is Xander, Alex's uncle," Willow explained. She really did think that Kel was totally freaking cute but she wasn't sure if saying so in front of Kel wouldn't count as some sort of harassment.

Okay, admittedly small cute talking animals were still a little bit of a novelty, and there was a small black cat somewhere in the back of his head laughing at him while he reached for an appropriate response. "Just tell me you don't beep." He flicked a look at Willow. "No genetic mods on the natives, missy."

"I didn't!" Willow said.

"Am I supposed to beep?" Kel asked.

"No," Willow assured him.

"No," Xander echoed. "It's just something baby monitors do sometimes where we're from." He grinned at Willow. "By the way, Jeremiah says hi, congratulations, and your Alex's Birthday present is I didn't bring him with me so he could say it in person."

"I very much appreciate that," Willow said. "Thank you and thank Jeremiah."

"It's nothing, really." Xander looked down at the baby again, then back at Willow. "You trust my depth perception enough to let me pick him up?"

"Xander!" Peter greeted him with a huge smile. "Welcome!"

"Dad!" he greeted Peter with a grin. "And wow, does that sound weird to say it like I'm actually glad to see someone."

"It's rather weird thinking of you as 'Uncle Xander' too," Peter said. "Have you seen your namesake yet?"

"Short guy, kinda lazy, didn't even get up when I came over to say hi?" Xander asked.

"You forgot completely adorable," Peter told him.
