Philbert James Hedgehog had noticed changes in his wee world. He had noticed his mother who would've gotten more play time if not for some distracting pretty elsewhere AHEM acting not quite like herself. Oh sure, she fed him and cuddled him and talked to him in that strange, long-winded language of hers. But still. She was off. As though her spikes weren't lying down in a proper fashion.
(Not that Philbert James Hedgehog's mother had spikes, but Philbert James Hedgehog - who liked calling himself by his full name as he felt it had a nice rhythm to it - assumed she had some sort of equivilant item. Perhaps that soft, brightly colored stuff on the top of her head, for instance.)
Philbert James Hedgehog pondered this problem. He considered various aspects of it, and moved his toys into different locations as he thought. This was the hedgehog version of making up a spreadsheet. Not that he would have called it that since he was a hedgehog and didn't understand computers.
Ultimately, he decided that his mother's spikes had gone wonky right around when there was a bad smell in the room. Which made sense since he wasn't fond of those either. So he wriggled out of his cage and tracked it down.
His mother had cleaned up the worst offender of the scent earlier in the day. But she'd left a stone inside of the cave that she slept on top of. Being wee, he had no problems going into this low-ceilinged cave and sniffling the stone out.
He intended to shove the stone elsewhere, but his movements disturbed larger, heavier items that were in the cave as well. There was an avalanche of heavy objects that rumbled so loudly that he squeaked and went ball-shape for safety. When things calmed down he noticed the smell was gone. he took this as a good sign to scurry back to his cage.
He didn't realize that he'd managed to destroy a crystal, albeit accidentally, but the end result was the same.
[ooc: When the crystal breaks the spell is broken and everyone's memories return. Figure this happens some handwavy time after both radio and bedtime. NFB, NFI, void where prohibited]
