TTS Campfire, Wednesday morning

May 24, 2006 11:51

Willow was outside her cabin again.

Today she was having a breakfast of champions that consisted of donuts and soda.

She was also reading a very thick book on British heraldry.

No reason in particular on that last bit.

Marie wandered out of the cabin and took a seat near Willow.

"Good morning."

Willow immediately shared her donuts with Marie. "Morning! I'm trying to teach myself heraldry."

Marie smiled gratefully as she took a donut.

"Heraldry?" she asked. "Any particular reason?"

"None that I will claim to where radio might hear me," Willow said with a grin. "Let us say there are reasons. I am in possession of heraldic motivation. Also I hate it when people know things and I don't. Makes me frowny."

"Okay, that makes sense I guess," Marie said. "How are your workshops going?"

"So far okay," Willow said. She sipped her soda. Mmm, caffiene and sugar. "I made brownies on Monday. Yesterday I snuck into Xander's workshop but - shh - don't tell. I've got computers this afternoon. I'm really looking forward to that. They swore it'd be okay for hackers so I'm hoping. You?"

"I had writing yesterday and that was fun," Marie said. "And tonight I have astronomy and then Friday is fun & games."

She looked at Willow thoughtfully.

"You're a computer hacker?"

"Sort of?" Willow replied. "Back home sometimes Buffy needed information that couldn't be gotten any other way. I don't do it to try to take over the government or anything."

"Wow. I know how to turn my computer on, check email, type papers and play solitaire," Marie said. "So I'm impressed."

"Solitaire's fun," Willow said. "I love it when the cards dance. It's like they're so happy they've found each other!"

Marie laughed. "The dancing cards are definitely the best part of the game," she agreed.

"And it's nice because the red cards and the black cards have to play together if they want to find their families," Willow said. "So it's not like it's a dance of racism at the end."

"I... never thought about it that way," Marie admitted.

Willow nodded. "And the Jacks spend all their time reading so they don't participate in all the sports that the aces do. But that's okay because the Queens like reading so the Jacks get rewarded by being closer to the Tens, who are fun loving and have pet Threes."

Marie nodded. "If you say so."

"My mom thought I should spend at least three hours a day not playing with my dolls," Willow explained.
