Up next is Batman: Gothic, Originally Legends of the Dark Knight 6-10 written by Grant Morrison, illustrated Klaus Janson in 1998.
Honestly, I have to say that I deeply disliked this storyline. The whole thing starts out with Bruce waking from what is, apparently, one in a series of recently-reoccurring nightmares that mix young-Bruce and Batman, now and in-school, interspersed with flashes of Thomas Wayne. Of course, this whole nightmare mesh will be key to Bruce figuring out the Mr. Whisper mystery that's coming up.
The problem, for me, is that nothing of this mystery/Mr. Whisper thing has happened yet!
So is Bruce just picking up the "psychic vibrations" of evil that's coming? Seriously? Because that's the best thing that I can come up with...so anyway it means that I don't actually like the main story of this collection and found myself focusing on some of the other 'details.'
But, whatever's, happening has the gotham mob so freaked out that they construct an upsidedown Bat-signal and want to offer a deal with Bats; offering him to catch Mr. Whisper while they just -stop- for the duration.
I love this page for the sheer audacity of the mobsters in thinking they can call Batman, and I love Batman's response is basically "Fuck you."
