You have not missed anything. They do seem to disappear without notice, but we have not received an answer as to why or where they go.

...That's strange. Where could they have gone??

I wish that I knew. Hopefully they have been returned to their homes, since the alternatives...Well, it goes without saying that they are mostly unfavorable.

..Home.. I guess th--

...Wait. If they could be taken back home so easily.. why are we bothering with this entire trip at all??

Because we do not have any control over who leaves and who stays. Cid Amon is not responsible, so if any one person could be, it would likely be the mysterious person who has brought us.

...How do we know that this guy isn't responsible?? How can we trust anyone here at all?

I have verified it for myself. I possess a lasso that, when it entangles a person, renders them unable to lie. Cid Amon allowed me to question him early in our journey.

...A lasso.

It is empowered by the fires of Hestia. You are not the first to doubt its power, but I assure you that I do not lie.

...Hestia.

So, you're telling me that you have a rope that's powered by some ..Greek god.

[ he laughs a little ] I'm sorry. Not to sound rude, but that's the strangest shit I've heard so far.

Your disbelief is not unwarranted. But I am Diana of Theymscira--the Gods have left most of the world, but they still watch over the Amazons.

...Never heard of that place.

Gods exist in your world, huh? Seemed to have abandoned mine. Either that, or we pissed them off. Can't quite figure out which it is, at this point.

From what I know of them, it is possible that they have indeed left, though perhaps by no fault of your own. The Gods are temperamental, at best, and no different than humans, at times. But they are omnipotent and full of powers that we can not imagine. It is an unfortunate combination, at times.

Yeah, well... I've had enough of their "holy prophecies," at the very least. Once faith drives some overzealous leader to stage a mass-suicide, I kinda tend to lose any respect for religion.

Omnipotent or not, the gods really need to tone it down with prophesying shit.

I am sorry. Such tragedies mark upon the honor of all religions. Though, prophecies are not a precise art. I have seen few prophecies foretold come to fruition.

Hey, it's not your fault. Life goes on, I guess.

--Really? Well, that's more than I've seen. You must just be lucky. Or.. unlucky. I guess it depends on what kinds of prophecies we're talking about here.
