"RIG" is short for "Resource Integration Gear." Basically, it's a device that hooks up into the wearer's spine and controls various features like... video logs, voice logs, text logs... things like that.
Also keeps track of the wearer's physical health. Really convenient thing to have. Doesn't seem like anyone else around here even knows what they are, though.
