FOUND Kitty!
This is really Brad's story to tell, because he's the one who stayed up for most of last night and staked out Kitty -- who, as it turns out, had nested down with the neighborhood strays in the back yard of a house two doors down.
But he found her! And because of his patience and love for her, she is back home this morning safe and sound. He says that her claws are pretty ragged, that one of her thumbs in particularly is a little bloody and painful looking, but otherwise she is in great shape. He says she doesn't even appear to have lost too much weight. He's going to take her into the vet tonight to check her out, AND GET HER CHIPPED, and then we'll buy her a collar (and train the dogs that kitties with collars are not toys).
THANK YOU SO MUCH to my LJ friends for posting encouragement and stories about kitties finding their way home. Each extra day that our kitty was missing got harder, and it was tough for us to keep up hope. But hearing so many stories about missing kitties being found and coming home -- in fact, we only heard one that went the other way -- made it much harder for us not to give up on her.
I'm stuck in LA on a business trip, so I can't snuggle her, but you can bet she going to get a whole lot of spoiling from me when I get home tomorrow night.
