Reminiscing

Today is Halloween. I can recall what it was like back at that Muggle orphanage. All this candy, dressing up in our pathetic sheets as ghosts or witches or mummy's or what have you. Halloween was the only holiday where I ever felt alive, powerful, awakened to some "higher sense" within me. All those children would have fun banging on doors, begging ( Read more... )

Was it really so bad with the Muggles?

You cannot imagine what it was like. Day after day enduring their selfishness and bigotry. They think so highly of themselves, yet compared to us they are but ants. They looked down on me because I was different. They love "conformity" these Muggles. Always sticking their nose in your business, demanding to know who you are and why you can't fit in. As if I would want to fit in to their world. Always hustle and bustle and for what purpose?
It's not like here. Not at all. This place, this world of magic is like a light in the darkness compared to where I came from. I shudder just at the thought of ever returning to that dismal place...

It sounds much the same here, actually. Perhaps there is no difference in this world, Muggle or Wizard, and all we can do is help make it better by being kind to one another.

Oh but see there is one very important difference here and that is that we have been gifted with power, power that can change both our world and the Muggles' if we so allow it. Muggles only think they have power, yet the mark they make on day-to-day affairs is too minuscule to even be mentioned. We have a gift. We can change things for the better. Magic is meant for so much more than changing rats into teacups or other such nonsense. Magic can bring about a revolution where the only difference is between those willing to fight and those who have only enough strength to step aside. Things can change. But we need to be willing to embrace that change and take the first step into a new way of thinking. Kindness can take you so far, but if it does not have power behind it, it will be tossed aside and stepped on by others of a meaner disposition ( ... )

It is meant for more by it's very nature, but we must use it in the right way. We must use it to counter plots like the army of heliopaths that the Minister of Magic has and the Rotfang Conspiracy where the Aurors are trying to bring down the Ministry using Dark Magic and gum disease.

Oh, it's fine. I don't mind at all. People are quite patient with me. Some take my things, but they're always returned to me. I do have friends, you know.

Well, that is certainly a bit of politics I have not heard before, but I think we understand each other to an extent.
People take things from you? How awful. Now why would anyone do a thing like that?

You don't read The Quibbler, do you? I have copies for sale if you want them.

They think I'm a bit odd. They call me "Loony", you know. I know that's what they call me behind my back, but it becomes a habit, so it slips out when I'm there.

I cannot say that I have, but just for you I can take a look into it. It is a magazine of sorts, am I correct?
Ah, yes. I know exactly how you feel. In the Muggle orphanage I was called names all the time. Things like "freak" and "psycho", all because I could do things they could not. But you know what I have come to realize? They were afraid. They saw my difference and trembled because it was something beyond them, something out of their control. Don't let these people get to you. They are only hiding their own weaknesses and fears by doing those things to you. Deep down they know you are better than them, stronger, smarter than they could ever be, and I am sure the time will come when you can prove it. If you would ever like help dealing with these people, I would be more than happy to lend a hand. I am a prefect afterall.

One Knut.

People don't need to be afraid of me. I think... yes, I did, I already said that they don't get to me. I don't mind. But that is why Daddy and I are searching for the Crumple-Horned Snorkack. One day we will be able to show them that we were right.

As you are a prefect, perhaps I will let you know if one of my books goes missing again or perhaps not.

Well, perhaps when we meet later I will be able to purchase one from you.
And I would be glad to offer my services to you at any moment. You may not be from my house, but us "different" folk must stick together, hm? We can show them together.
