Yes, actually, I will run for food

"My brain is not yet full. Is there a character you miss playing?"

I get myself in a lot of trouble with that line. Fortunately, it's the kind of trouble I crave - the chance to run a game for someone. The only thing better than creating a world for someone is when you can rescue a favorite character from dead-game-hell AND create a new world for them to conquer and be conquered by.

"So the one thing I've pitched to play and have played but not in some detail, is the mistress of Oberon."

That was my Long Lost Sister's hook for me. (hereafter listed as LLS *g*)  I think I would have had a much more well adjusted childhood if we'd actually grown up together. My LLS is very cool. *hugs* Of course, growing up with me would mean growing up with my oh-so-well-adjusted parental units, and I'd not wish that on anyone. Eh, better met late than not at all. Okay, I'm getting off-topic here....

We negotiated stats, each with some surprises for the other as Imogen the Courtesan came into being. She jumped at my offer of Exalted Sorcery, and I was pleased as punch to see the Warfare stat she gave herself, as I am such a geek for steel. Then, the bit that set the time period for me... once the bewilderment faded, anyway;

LLB> What drove each woman's story? What were you looking for that felt unfinished about their characters?
LLS> What i missed was there was never interaction with Oberon
LLB> Huh... how did that happen?
LLS> Oberon was always in their past, he was died by the time the game started

So, clearly, I HAD to run her story against the backdrop of the Exile of Benedict's brothers, because I had a lot of dead Oberons to make up for.  Neither of us were sure exactly when in Imogen's history to start, so I decided to start at the beginning, her first meeting with Amber.  Castril - Imogen's homeland - has gone to war with a kingdom of the Golden Circle one time too many, and Amber herself has been stirred.  My opening post, as I have always been a fan of the 'swift kick' game start methodology;

>> Carrick of Castril has abandoned you on the street, well dressed but penniless, perhaps a hundred yards from an officer's bivouac. "Get me SOMETHING, Bitch!" was his last words to you....He has a few Royal Guard with him, useless pikemen against Amber's archers, but he believes he can rally some heroic charge if he can find where to charge into.

Imogen's world is not a happy place... but what Amber worth visiting is?  *eg  However, she has had some joys.  Very recently, Oberon gave her a ring forged of her own tears after she confessed (after a LOT of struggle in play) that she loved him.  She has given pleasure and taken pain to carry her King through the darkness inherent in raising an army against Finndo, his eldest son.

We've had great fun, my LLS and I.  I've been too lazy thus far to log our game (THXSOMUCHLY, a_belletrist & simonepdx, for their logs for DIA and UVA, the other solo mayhems I run), so I figured I'd blog myself a nag, reminding me of how cool this is - cool enough to share, certainly.  If I weren't already behind on my contributions for Book of Myths, I'd be working on it right now. ;-)

Health and happiness, friends.  And if you ever need a game to call your own, there's always room for more noise in my brain... but you'll have to keep the logs yourself. *eg*

amber, family crap, gaming
