What would your dream occupation be?
It takes all of a moment for the words to sink in, and even then, you're not sure you've understood him properly.
"I'm sorry, sir?"
Because it sounded an awful lot like the President of the United States was offering you a job.
A job at the White House.
"Pardon me?" You have to ask again, because somehow, through your dumbfoundment, you managed to completely miss what he said.
"I'm appointing you Deputy Communications Director," Bartlet explains, patiently.
Is it possible that there's a second job with that title? Because, you were pretty sure that... "It covers a wide range of areas of policy and execution and counsel to me."
Oh.
"To you... The President?"
"Yes."
All of his words seem to have become jumbled up inside your ear canal, melding into a dull kind of buzzing that does nothing to aid your current disorientation.
You're not exactly sure what's happening right now - not even fully certain that this is really happening to you - but as your head starts to clear it's slowly coming to you that the President has just offered you your dream job.
For the first time in a long while, you are totally speechless.
