I usually don't post really personal TMI stuff on here, but I had a rather unfortunate escapade this week and wanted the advice of some other ladies~

since you guys are the cool older sisters I never had )

Your hymen probably tore, which is NORMAL and you shouldn't worry about it. This happens to some girls when being, ahem, penetrated for the first time. Its totally normal and now when you have sex for the first time there should be no blood or awkwardness. You probably can use tampons too. I doubt you will bleed again when you go to the doctor.

I've never had a pap smear either... D:

As for the flu shot. That happens sometimes, it happened to my Grandmother. And now she has a scar from it. You may need to get it checked out.

This is reassuring, thank you!!

What's weird about the flu shot is that there isn't a wound there, like I can't even tell where the hole is from the injection, it's just a big bruise. I'll keep on eye on it for the next few days and ask someone about it if it doesn't get better.

Yeah, sometimes bruising just happens with those. It isn't an indication of an actual injury but something else with the shot.

Now I'm worried about getting a pap smear.

I got the impression that it normally wasn't that bad of a procedure, that it was just my tension and inexperienced ladyparts that made it uncomfortable. Yours might go a lot smoother!

like someone said above, the bleeding is probably just from your hymen tearing...so technically by medieval standards, I guess you did get your cherry popped (and lol yes that is something people really do say). And yeah, you're sort of lucky in the sense that when you have sex you won't have to worry about bleeding!

And for what it's worth, I had my first pap smear AFTER I'd had..."relations," and it was still very uncomfortable and a little painful for me. It's really just a matter of how tight you are down there. It will probably still be uncomfortable in a few weeks, it might actually hurt or it might just feel like a sort of...uncomfortable pressure? That was the overwhelming sensation for me when I got mine done, anyways, but every body is different of course. And as hard as it is I think it is really important to try to keep as relaxed as possible, because tensing up makes everything worse.

lol I'm sure my first boyfriend will appreciate hearing about this story

I've suspected that I'm a little tight down there since I'm so uncomfortable wearing tampons, so yeah I'm guessing it'll still be a bit painful when I go in for pap smear try no. 2, but I should do better this time knowing that the pain goes away as soon as she takes her instrument out.

Thanks for the advice!!

I've never had it done either, and I'll be 25 in February. I've avoided it and want to avoid it for the same reasons for as long as I can. But from what I know about female health, it sounds like yeah it was a hymen thing like the others said. It might make things more comfortable next time if you just relax as best as you can. Perhaps you can listen to music during the procedure to relax you? The more you tense up, the more the muscles will tighten, which will make sticking anything inside more difficult unfortunately.

I so do not wanna have to go through that crap, but I know I'm going to have to at some point. :(

I should probably stretch before my next appointment because I think a lot of what was making me uncomfortable was my legs cramping up from being jammed into those stirrups :/

At the risk of being that awkward person commenting almost immediately after adding you, I just want to say that you are not alone! I'm almost 24, and I still have yet to schedule my first lady doctor appointment. I'm hesitant for the same reasons you listed. It's just...awkward. I know logically that I need to get it done, but... oy. Stretching sounds like a good idea. Hopefully your next one goes better! :(

As for the flu shot, :( That doesn't sound good. Here's hoping it's getting better. :(

The bleeding is normal so that's nothing to worry about. The pain is fairly normal, but you may ask if they have a smaller device (I forgot the name of it now) I know my doc switched to a smaller one for me and I have almost no pain anymore from it.

The flu shot sounds common to me, but I also haven't had one in years because they make me sicker than if I don't get one. If you haven't and it's still bruised you may go get it checked out.
