My birthday was on Wednesday! I'm 20 now. I went out to Chimmichanga's with my family for dinner and ran into Sam's house to give her a hug. Bianca made me cupcakes, mom bought me this huge TV trivia book, and I bought myself season two of The Venture Brothers.
I am in love with that show, I could just curl up under my comforter and watch it all day. Unfortunately, I have homework and several large papers looming over my head. My Tycho Brahe paper for History class doesn't look too hard, and isn't due until the week before Thanksgiving. My Job paper, on the other hand, has to be 2500+ words long on a book I barely got through, and is due in three weeks. NOT GOOD. Thankfully, my roommate is in the same class and is supposed to bring me a plain language Bible so I can understand Job better. I think once I've got that down, it won't be horrible, except for the ridiculous length.
I gave blood for the first time on Friday. It was pretty quick, easy, and painless (I've never had a problem with needles), so I'll be doing it again when I can. It's for a good cause, and I get a free sticker and cookies, all of which are things I enjoy.
I also ran into Switchfoot three times on Friday, since they were performing in the stadium for our college's homecoming concert. During the day, they were hanging out in the same student center room as the blood drive. I walked out thinking, "Oh, those are just scruffy Student Activities guys waiting to help Switchfoot with something" to "Oh, I think that is Switchfoot. Huh."
That night, APO held a car smash in one of the athletic fields in the way back of campus, by where the tour buses were parked. Again, we thought it was just scruffy college guys when we implored them to come beat this car with a sledgehammer for money, but then Kim went after them and was like OMG SWITCHFOOT. They did smash the car with us, and paid the money and took pictures and everything. One guy named Rico yelled "I DON'T WANT TO GO TO COLLEGE, DAD, I WANT TO DO MUSIC!" and threw a cinderblock through the windshield.
Afterwards, APO went out to Gingham's for a late dinner, and Switchfoot came in as we were leaving. They played the crane machine, and I think they won something.
But meeting them wasn't as cool as meeting a guy in a shirt with a big Team Rocket R on it. Hello, my future husband?
Saturday, I waved school color pom-poms from the APO float in the homecoming parade, and helped dad pick out a fire pit for the backyard. Today, I took pictures of my brother and his friends dressed as zombies, and found Willy Wonka costume pieces at the Value Village. A good weekend.
