"What's up, Rocky Horror?"

Jun 21, 2010 15:23

I am a party photography fiend. Maybe it's because I'm invited to so few parties that I want photographic evidence that I was actually there. Or maybe it's because I'm terrible at mingling and need something to do so I'm not sitting in a corner by myself. Either way, whatever party I go to, my hands are pretty much attached my camera.

Thursday was my brother James' graduation party. We ate a lot of cupcakes, listened to his friends' bands, and ran around the park.

Purple David

Tubby Tom and Calvin

God job

Failed attempt at a panoramic picture. Ty and Ian have three hands each.

Join us!

Emily, Paul, Jake, James, Chris

I don't know what he's freaking out about.

I can't tell if James is stealing the picture from Ian, or if Ian is stealing the picture from James.

Adam is king of the playground.

Emily wearing James' hat.

Excited David is excited.

Beatboxing.

Fight scene with Gideon.

Kyle tries to lick his elbow.

Kyle does his Gollum impression and runs off with James' ring.

K.O.

There was a group of shirtless men running through the park playing Frisbee Golf. The guys wanted to join, but there weren't enough Frisbees to go around.

I just love the arrangement of people in this photo.

This is my nephew Aidan. He was too cool for the party.

Six foot, seven foot, eight foot BUNCH!

Funkytown?

Kyle drew this for Ty.

I drew this for Ian. It's hanging on his fridge.

Tom moved to Washington last year, but he's back in town for the summer and David threw him a homecoming party. I think it was the greatest party I've ever been to.

David makes Sarah uncomfortable.

It begins.

Sarah and Kyle use David as their canvas.

Paint goes everywhere.

Even on the speedo.

Can't look away.

If there was an award show for parties, this is what the trophies would look like.

Emily takes over for Sarah in the painting.

Circle time.

What's down there?

Tom arrives ready to party.

Lord of the Rings homage gone awry.

You may have guessed that this was a costume party. I was a unicorn.

This is one of the very best pictures I have ever taken.

The party don't start 'til Purple Dave walks in.

Sarah painted Kyle's nails.

Best snack bag ever.

I don't have pictures of some of the best parts. I played with packing peanuts, watched The Road to El Dorado, talked with my old friends Emily and Becky ("So I broke up with my boyfriend during the intermission to Little Shop of Horrors..."). At one point, I went upstairs to find everyone partying around a strobe light. It was intense. It was like suddenly being on a drug trip. I'm walking up the stairs, everything's normal, then BAM!, everything's moving and flashing and I can't even describe it, it was so freaky.

pictures, epic, parties, friends
