The Last Progress
Ladies and Gentlemen, Jack is the new Jacob. It makes sense: he thinks he's supposed to stay on the island, he doesn't have anything to go home to, and he's been the leader since the very beginning of the show. Jack has been our rock, and he will be the rock for this island for a very long time. But it is weird thinking of Jack as being a mysterious, mystical figure like Jacob. We know him too well. He doesn't have that mystery to him.
I really really want to see how Desmond is important. We know that he can withstand electromagnetism, but how is that useful? How can he trap MIB or destroy the island?
How sad is it that Ben's flashback to the island was not about love, but being punched?
I just adore the relationship between Ben and Alex in the flashsideways. It warms my heart. And it was great to see Danielle again. Ben seems to have an attraction to her, which is fairly fitting for his teacher character, but odd when you think of him as the lying island leader.
I was loving the bromance between him and Locke, especially when Ben got defensive all up in Desmond's grill.
I was also loving all of Ben's badassery. But I want him to use his powers for good, not for evil.
Most people don't like Zoe, but I kind of did. (It's for a totally silly reason, though. She first introduced herself as Zoey, and I misheard it as Sully, as in Sullivan, which was the name of my favorite grade school teacher. So whenever I looked at her, I saw the lady that read me Holes and Tuck Everlasting.) She did come out of nowhere in the middle of the last season, which was jarring, but I think she would've been an interesting character if she was in an earlier season. I'd read about her being important, and it doesn't seem like she did anything important before MIB killed her, so I'm wondering if she comes back somehow.
I'm not a big fan of Jack or Kate or their romance, but I did always like the scene in the Pilot where she stitches up his back wound, and I was happy to see a bookend to that here.
It looks like things are swinging in the Kate/Sawyer direction, at least judging by the flashsideways. But I think he's not over Juliet, that if Kate offers him a relationship with her, Sawyer won't take it. I'm not sure where she'll end up. I've never been very interested in this love triangle, but it's been a part of the show since the beginning, and I am curious to see how it ends.
I want to know who Miles' girlfriend is. Hopefully he brings her to this big concert.
Everything will collide in the flashsideways very soon. The idea of all these characters, past and present, being brought together makes me more excited than anything.
I liked seeing Ana-Lucia again. The cameos have been the best part of this season.
