It's beginning to look at lot like Christmas

I bought and signed the family Christmas cards today, so I think it's an appropriate time to post the first holiday meme of the season.

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?
Wrapping paper. I'm great at wrapping, albiet a bit of a perfectionist. I go through so much tape.

2. Real tree or Artificial?
I've always had an artificial tree. The process of going out and getting a real one seems so alien to me.

3. When do you put up the tree?
Usually around Thanksgiving, I guess.

4. When do you take the tree down?
We actually haven't taken ours down from last Christmas. Or the Christmas before. It's been up in our basement rec room for two straight years.

5. Do you like eggnog?
I've never tried it. Doesn't it have alcohol in it?

6. Favorite gift received as a child?
My LOTR: Fellowship of the Ring box set. The fancy one with the extended DVD set and the figurines. I was 12.

7. Hardest person to buy for?
My mom. She doesn't really have interests. She works, she sleeps, she takes care of Grandma.

8. Easiest person to buy for?
My nephew. Kids are always easy to shop for.

9. Do you have a nativity scene?
Yeah, an old one that gets passed through the family, although we have it most years. It's a pretty set, but it has a lot of wear. I think Mary's nose is missing.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards?
The old-fashioned mail kind. I sent them all out last year, it was neat.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?
My younger brother gave me a rubber band one year.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie?
Does Nightmare Before Christmas count? If not, then Elf. Ooh, or A Muppet Christmas Carol! (And if we can do Christmas-themed TV episodes too, I'd have to say "How the Ghosts Stole Christmas" from the 5th season of X-Files.)

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?
I start looking in early November, and actually start the purchasing a few weeks later.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?
No?

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?
I made this oreo ice cream dessert for my mom's family's Christmas party the last two years. It's a big hit.

16. Lights on the tree?
Yep, usually white ones because our colored sets have stopped working.

17. Favorite Christmas song?
"Christmas Eve (Serjavo 12/24)" by Trans-Siberan Orchestra

18. Travel at Christmas or stay home?
Well, we're always here for Christmas eve and morning, but we always drive out to my grandparents' farm within a few days of Christmas. But we're there a couple times a year, I don't really count it as travel.

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer's?
I know Dasher, and Dancer, and Prancer and Vixen. Comet, and Cupid, and Donner, and Blizten. And I do recall the most famous reindeer of all: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

20. Angel on the tree top or star?
A shiny red star-shaped topper that we got at a retro store called TFA.

21. Open presents on Christmas Eve or morning?
It's always been the morning, except for one year when were were going down to the farm on Christmas day and had to leave early, so we opened them on the Eve.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year?
Stress. Get the cards sent out, get the house cleaned for guests, buy good gifts for everybody, and then there's the chaos at the stores...

23. Favorite ornament theme or color?
We've never had a theme or color scheme to our tree, too much hodgepodge collected over thirty-two years. My grandma used to send personalized ones to me and my brother every year, and we have several of those still.

24. Favorite for Christmas dinner?
We actually don't do any sort of Christmas dinner. My mom works evenings, and her schedule lets her off for alternating holidays: she can be off Xmas eve or Xmas day, but not both. (I guess they're counted as seperate holidays?) I think we had nachoes one year. xD

25. What do you want for Christmas this year?
THESE.

26. Who is most likely to respond to this?
Mashi?

holidays, christmas, meme
