I know, I know, I didn't really post about it last week. I was busy and/or lazy. I need to try and get out of the habit of recapping every plot point like I feel compelled to do, and just put out my thoughts and theories, like I really want to. If someone cares enough to read my reviews, then they probably don't need the plot retold to them.
So, some thoughts on the first two episodes of season two...
*LOVED that we got those answers. And I think they did it just right: we learned enough to be satisfied, but not so much that we're disinterested. We know what we have to know for the time being, and there's still plenty more left open for us to learn when the time is right. Like, I'd love to learn more about Tom Foss.
*There was totally something going on with Adam Baylin and that lawyer guy. (I actually don't remember his name. Well, based on his performance tonight, we'll just be calling him Mr. Metaphor from now on anyway.) I can't remember anything specific, but you could tell they were more than life-long friends. Or do I have my slash goggles on? I think I do. My dreams this morning involved House and Wilson, a diamond engagement ring, and matching plum-colored velvet suits.
*Speaking of slash, did I ever mention that I slash Kyle and Deckligan together? I mean their respective relationships with Amanda and Lori are nice, but they just turn into quarelling couple when they're around each other. Plus, you know my slogan: You can't spell trust without UST.
*Where is Hilary? I know it's only been two episodes, and she was royally annoying most of the time, but I'm curious. I bet it's prison. Or she got pregnant. Something scadalous.
*Man, Nicole is obsessive. And I really think that her kids, especially Josh, feel a little ignored since she's so focused on Kyle most of the time. And her worrying about him when he was "with the Petersens" bordered on craziness.
*I'm wondering about that therapist Nicole was going to. I don't think we ever saw their face, which makes me think that it's going to be some big reveal. Of course, it could just be that they wanted to focus on Nicole, and I'm televionally paranoid. Dude, I made up a word!
*Did you see the way that guy in the woods threw that knife into the tree? He's totally a Supernatural hunter that just got lost, and, thinking that he was following Dean and Sam when it was really Jason and Dean in their respective Smallville and Gilmore Girls reruns, wandered onto ABC Family. Totally.
*Josh is many things, but disorganized is not one of them. He kept those detailed Kyle Files, and, after throwing a wild party, made a checklist of what he had to do to make the house clean and erase all the evidence. I like that about him. He's not the smartest or most tactful kid, but he is organized.
*Man, I love Kyle's new black pea-coat. When I first saw the photo of him wearing it, my first thought was Daniel Jackson. Equal curses and thanks, Motivators thread. Of course, now I want him to act out the video to Ana Ng.
*Jessi XX need a shower. And some pants.
I watched like three episodes of Stargate SG1 today: Tin Man, Prometheus Unbound, and Wormhole X-Treme!, in addition to watching 1969 last week. I think I'm hooked now. Too bad that the series ends on Friday. Ah well, that means a weeklong marathon for me to watch. There's lots of plot/mythology stuff that I don't get, but I am enjoying the characters. O'Neill (I have way too many other Jacks in my fandoms) is snarky and wisecracking, but still a responsible and skilled soldier. Daniel is intelligent, charming, cute, and was really hot in Prometheus Unbound. Vala is crazy awesome. Teal'c is strangely adorable. I *love* his raised eyebrows and way of few words. And Samantha Carter... is smart? She hasn't really done anything remarkable yet, but I'm sure she will. It's only four episodes after all. But she does have two very common names, I don't know what do call her. If it's "Sam", I think Supernatural. If it's "Samantha", I think X-Files. If it's "Carter", I think Eureka or X-Files again. And that's just my fandoms, I'm not putting Mashi into this...
You learn something new every day. You know that show "The Closer"? I've never actually seen it, but being the TV Guide junkie that I am, I know what it is. Anyway, I've always thought it was like "close" the adjective, like "come closer to me", but radio commercials have taught me that it's "close" the verb, like "the play had a curtain closer". I can't really be blamed of course, I've only seen it in print.
I doubt anyone really read my Kyle XY report up there, but I wrote some really interesting non-KXY stuff in there that I wanted to repost here...
