Meh.

The sentiment should be more forceful, I suppose, but at the moment it's just kinda not. Partly because I went to bed with a migraine (ETA: Aaaaaand it's back. Ow. Note to self: Get new Midrin scrip.), and thus woke up groggy and weird, and am still just kinda "meh" about everything, including the news that Lifetime will only air the last two BT Read more... )

Journeyman fans have been promised a DVD release, though, even if the series doesn't get a second half of its first season -- which is a weird perspective thing all on its own! Remembering how people used to fight to get series with multiple seasons released.

I'm very sorry they made this decision.

I did watch the first ep of the "second season," but that's as far as I've gotten so far. I'd better watch them all up before Lifetime changes its mind about sharing them on the site. Darn it.

By "I'm very sorry they made this decision," the decision I mean is to not air things on television, not the decision to air them online! (Obviously. But just in case that came out all wrong.)

It was clear, but 'sokay.

It's an annoying development to be sure, but I think ultimately it's just that I've been resigned for a while to taking what I can get. I was happy to do my postcard and pimping duty, but I did my time in passionate-crusade mode long ago. ;-}

So do you suppose this was partly intended as a kick in the teeth to the writers' guild?

What really annoys me about this is that with just a teensy weensy effort on Lifetime's part, pocket change, Blood Ties could have been this decade's Buffy. A rave hit of a show. It's just stupid to buy a show and then make no effort to get people to actually watch the thing.

And damn. Ain't never gonna fall in love again. It had been years since I watched any TV show on a regular basis, then alongs comes Blood Ties to get me all involved, and now the rug's being yanked out from under me.

If a Canadian station picks it up for another season, I swear I will take that French class and emigrate.

I recall that Tanya said there will be DVDs of this season coming out around next July. If they're only sold in Canada, oh shucks, another excuse to go visit Toronto. Except I'll get all weepy and pouty and stompyfoot when I see "Henry's condo".

Always the story, alas.

I'm WAY too cynical about that, but I've done my time in the passionate crusade trenches. I just don't have any more of those in me.

Which is not to say I won't be happy to go stomp in TO with you. Any excuse... ;-D

If the DVDs are coming out in July, then I must go to Toronto for my birthday (July 28, same as Jackie Kennedy Onassis and Beatrix Potter). And stay at the mansion-converted-to-hotel that's given me a free upgrade to a suite the last two times I was there.

And go looking for Vicki's townhouse. I suspect it's somewhere around West Queen Street, which is a wonderfully bohemian neighborhood.

You will probably also be able to buy them on Amazon.ca even if you live in the US. ;-) Not that people shouldn't visit TO. :-)
