Yep, things are looking up, and so are we. Been climbing Bald Knob above the house and took some pictures. And had some visits, and some more....
So the other day I just had to get out of the house and go for a drive, after a long day of masking. I often decide to take the long way around to the post office to check our box by driving around Bald Knob, the big hill across the valley from us. I decide to explore up a little bit, so I parked and headed on up the hill. I was rewarded with a stunny series of views of the full surround valleys, 360 degrees of mountains.
Here is the view looking up to Bald Knob from our front deck. This was another morning and the mist is covering it, but I was above the mist line in the trees when I took this...
This is a broader field of view than our last panoramic from the foot of the hill. That one is
Here. The Bald Knob view shows from PA on the far left to Savage Mountain on the far right. Our home is located just a little bit over from the right and below where the trees are. The views up there were interesting, seeing and hearing the life down below me. I sawy this home with their woodstove against the chill of the coming evening.
I took this while I was up there as well, with the intent of making it into a Desktop:

Here. Now later we went out and the mist was once again rising. Took some nice ones of a farm
And a herd of deer grazing nearby, look close, you'll see them...
Earlier in the week my mother and cousin Elizabeth came for a visit. We had lots of fun, and went out to see Cumberland with them. So here are some of those pictures:
Jared and I, the native Texans, had requested a Texas shaped stepping stone. It is a strange preclivity that Texans have for things shaped like their home state. Especailly for those so far away. So we planted it in one flowerbed and popped in our pansys that Leah's mom gave us, and here I am using it for weeding, which everyone found funny. I guess when I am really homesick I shall have to got stand on it. In addition to the stone, we got a bag of Texas pecans, very welcome. One thing I found interesting was when I grew up in N. TX we could scoop pecans off the ground walking somewhere and munch. There aren't any trees like that in MD. And as an additional and heartfelt symbol, my mom brought me some Iris bulbs dug fresh from my Nanny's garden. The were loveing tended by my Papa while he was still alive, and had Texas dirt still clinging to the roots. I love them and put em in a special place. When they bloom pictures will come.
Now we paid a visit to Cumberland one day, which has a wonderful bricked downtown pedestrain mall and lots of great old buildings.
and I discovered to my delight that one building downtown has several Green Men staring down from it. Here is one.
Saw a regular fixture downtown of this art car. I think we need to paint our van...
Ellawyn got to ride one of those horses outside a grocery store for the first time. It had never crossed our mind to put her on one, but boy did she love it...simple pleasures of being 3 1/2...
Then at home, Jared's Oma, (my mom) bought him a new bike, so he's not trapped on the mountain.
Ellawyn got to play in our spring fed tiny stream...
and found a newt to examine closely...
Cousin Elizabeth got to try out Jared's longbow and did well for a first time...
and for Earthday, we spent the day in the flower beds, weeding and raking...
Where Ellawyn got to plant with her Oma, whom she sees far to little of...
So that's all for now, but I think it's enough. I will do another update soon, however May is rapidly approaching with a huge amount of shows and pictures to come.
Lots of love to all from here in the lap of Big Savage Mountain.
