Have a great start this weekend! One of my staff will be working the Steak on a Stake booth (as she has for many years in a row) and a bunch of friends will be dressed up and out there Sunday. I decided (after attending the first Saturday last year) that I'll hold off until a little later in the season this year.
Speaking of animals there... We got a heads-up tonight that they've been working on finding and eliminating as many of the ground wasp (yellow jacket) nests as possible... and that there are apparently more of them this year than L. remembers from the past. Which also means that there are probably more out there than were found, too.. which might get a bit angry come Saturday... so keep an eye out while your there!
Just the thought of more than usual makes me nervous - I still have very strong memories of the day I got stung on my fingertip (writing hand, of course) during cast call. (no cracks about them liking our outfits... they do, but this one was on my head, not dress).
Good to see you all tonight, even if I did have to run! (oh, and you should pop back to see Tiger's new place - what I've seen of it so far looks quite nice... and a few steps down, I've heard that health/growth willing, the triplets might be brought out to visit late-ish in the season... I know their dad's definitely in love with them already :-)
It was nice seeing you. Great to hear about the yellow jackets, hopefully nobody mistakenly sprays you on a fair day ;-) Sorry, I couldn't resist. I wouldn't have said anything if you hadn't.
One of my favorite festival memories was back in '96. I was working for the guy I ultimately bought the bubblewands from, being a bubble guy. I took a drink and got stung on the tongue. The effect was surreal, like a narcotic actually, and I took the rest of the day off, being queasy and dizzy, hung out at the White Hart and let friends buy me iced ciders. My tongue swelled up and between the sting and alcohol effects I sounded really funny. I actually had a great time!
Weeeeelllll...we actually won't be there that weekend. My booths will be with our manager handling things, but we will be attending FaerieCon in Philadelphia. Our shops are the bubble wands, located in front of the Lyric Stage, the giant pipe organ, and our Mask booth is next to the maze near the joust arena. I hope you can come on another weekend as well.
I was on site today cleaning up HMT, walked past your booth to see if you were in so I could introduce myself in person. You were not there, so I guess it'll havee to wait until Saturday.

*would* make for interesting attempts at enunciating, even before the alcohol... but iced ciders definitely sound like a good pain relief method :-)
