When the oral exams were over and done with at 6pm I stayed at school to help with the catering for the second performance of Twelfth Night. By the time we were done, a storm broke. I phoned Mum to ask about news regarding the funeral, and she told me that the storm had just passed them and had been very bad. Considering that the sky was suddenly dark as night, I had decided to stay at school and wait for the storm to pass anyway. And a wise decision it was. When I drove home, the firebrigade had already cleared the roads of the worst debris -- upturned trees, they had to cut trees that had fallen -- and I was glad that I didn't stay for the rest of the play, because negotiating the debris in the darkness would not have been much fun at all. A village that I have to pass through was hit very badly -- hail was still in the streets, white patches of ice. My hometown turned out to have been spared the worst.
Tomorrow's the last day of oral exams for me, only two more students, and that's that.
The funeral -- or rather the memorial service -- is scheduled for Thursday. Which the Head has already cleared for me.
Oh, and the trip to Poland is happening.
