Ever since I moved into my flat, I cook Ash Wednesday dinner for my folks. That way I make sure I get fish dishes I am likely to like.
The dinner table.
First course: Char tartare with apple-celeriac salad. That was the best dish of the night.
Followed by pan-fried calamari with lemons and bread crumbs. Recipe courtesy of Jamie Oliver (from the Italian cookbook).
Main Course: Spaghetti with king prawns. I'm not sure I liked that one. It was perfectly seasoned and everything, but I don't think I like tarragon. I'll have to try that one again with oregano.
Dessert: Apple and poppy-seed ice cream with hot cherries. Yum.
