Sigh

So, it's official now. I won't see David Tennant as Hamlet when I go to London after Christmas. I've been preparing myself for that bit of... sad news. But whenever someone's health is concerned there's no room for anything but wishing them well and do whatever it takes to fully recover. I'm still looking forward to the play, though, as it's the thing. And I'm sure I'll be able to see him on stage in a different production. Is there such a thing as looking forward to something too much?

Dinner was great last night. We had lots of fun, and lots of wine, and lots of DW.

Warm chestnuts in olive oil infused with sage and lemon, serrano ham and lamb's lettuce.

Médaillon of venison with chestnut purree and runner beans

Parfait of gingerbread with chocolate sauce

The Christmas concert at school was really good, and again, we had too much to drink before and afterwards. I stayed overnight at the professor's so I didn't have to drive home late at night. The school magazine (which I went on retreat for) was published. It's... different from what I'd imagined. They didn't change the cover, but there are some blunders o the cover and inside the mag -- some teachers' quotes have been included twice, and some of them aren't even funny, taken out of context as they are. Anyway. The rest is really good. The editor in chief gave a free copy to say thank you.

It's the Christmas holidays now; I'll only have to go back on 7 January. Yay, lot's of time to relax and do the things I want. Like going to London. I'll have to mark testpapers, but those can wait until next year.

striped_bouncer, your postcard arrived yesterday. Thank you so much for it!

food, david tennant
