“Find me when you have an answer."
I'm surprised that it took 40k words before one of the main characters ran away with me. It's a good sign when that happens, because it means that I know him very well and that I trust him to make important decisions. It also means that as long as it doesn't happen the plot as I've planned it works. So. After careful deliberation I have decided to let Matt run away because it makes for a lovely twist in the plot that makes it even more interesting and provides another black moment. The beauty of it is that I'll only have to make minor plot adjustments.
But the best of all? This revelation did the trick to make me feel at home in this story, with the characters. So it's been a very good writing day.
