We're back!
Let me just start by saying, damn that was an awesome concert!
This little trip was a ton of fun, just like I thought it would be. We headed out between 10:30 and 11:00 and got some lunch on the way. It took us roughly 4 hours to get to Matteson, which is where our hotel was. Apparently I've aged to the point that longer car trips don't bother me much anymore. I didn't really do anything to entertain myself, beyond listening to the radio. That's another nice thing; Dad and I have pretty similar tastes in music, so we listen to a lot of the same stations. ^_^ We even got to hear a few Beatles songs.
After we checked in, we hung out for about an hour, then we went out to eat some dinner. In keeping with our pre-concert tradition, we ate at an Olive Garden. ^^ Pasta and Caesar salads were had by both of us. Lovely. <3
After dinner, we headed over to the United Center. While we were driving, we got to see some neat scenery. It was dark by then; the cityscape is really pretty at night. <3 And, we even got to see the Sears Tower pretty close up. It was really neat. ^_^ We ended up being early; Dad had never been there before, so he wanted to make sure we had enough time to find the place. He needn't have worried; we found it easily enough. Although, I'm still glad that we got there early. It made parking easier, for one thing. Also, it made sure we had time to buy tour shirts before the show. <3 We both got one; they're quite spiffy. ^_^

Loads of older stuff; y'know, the earlier stuff that I loved, but never thought he'd play live. <3 Much love. Plus, several newer songs, which I also liked. And, of course, there were the staples, like "Hey Jude", "Let It Be", and "Band On The Run" that we all knew he'd play.
The special effects were great, as always. The pyrotechnics on "Live and Let Die" lived up to those of the last tour. ^^ And he got the audience involved with a few numbers, like "Hey Jude", which was loads of fun. It was nice that he had the same band this time that he'd had in the last tour, too. They're all really cool. ^_^ All in all, the show was a few minutes short of 3 hours long. So, so awesome. <3
And we had great seats. We were in the first section up from the floor, almost dead center stage. It was awesome, though a bit loud. ^^;; Ah, well. Like I told Dad, that's one way to know a great concert; you walk outside afterward, and your hearing's fuzzy. XD
We got back to the hotel at around 12:00 (the concert ended at about 11:30). We were hungry, so we stopped at a White Castle (My Dad and brother are addicted to these things, I swear. And we don't have any near where we live.) It was about 1:00 by the time we finally got to bed. That's one of the things that I don't like about traveling; I never sleep very well. The beds just aren't comfortable enough, I guess. =P
We got up at 9:00 this morning, then went to IHOP for breakfast. <3 Unfortunately, we don't have any of these where we live, either. The food was great; I got a combo that came with eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, and cinnamon-swirl French toast. So, so good. ^_^
After breakfast, Dad let us make a side trip to Borders. Again, we don't have any where we live, and besides, I love bookstores period. So, of course I wanted to go in. ^^ I got some new manga; Yuugiou Duelist volume 9, Flame of Rekka volume 13, and Slayers novel volume 5. Yay! Also, I tried some new tea from the cafe; honey vanilla Chai. It was pretty good, if a tad too sweet.
The car ride home was much like the ride up there. We listened to the radio and goofed around a bit. And I read two of my manga, so that was nice.
The weather was another interesting thing. Down here, it's been warm. Not too surprisingly, up north, it was cold and windy. =P And then, today, rainy, too. Poor Dad didn't think to bring a coat; I brought my sweater and I still was a bit cool. I could never live there; I'd freeze. =P
Overall, it was a great trip. Loads of fun, and a nice break from the stresses of school and work. Granted, I have to go back tomorrow, but still. =P
Though I had a ton of fun, I'm still glad to be home. <3
