Ah, weekends always go by way too fast. *Sigh*
Well, first off, good news on the laptop front. I was able to get a universal charger, so I'll be able to use my laptop again. I'm still thinking I'd like to replace the battery, but Dad says that it would be easier to order that; it's not something that would be easy to find locally. Which is fine. Getting the charger buys me time. =) So I'm really grateful for that.
Some not-so-good news on another shopping front. I need a new bra, so I did a little looking around today. And any ladies out there know what a nightmare that is.
Okay, so one of the bras I've been wearing just popped its underwire. I had two like this, and the other one did it a few weeks back, so I knew this was coming. So, not too long after the first one popped, I went shopping. I found a couple of bras, but they far from ideal. Neither fits as well as I'd like, but the biggest problem is that they're both done in colorful patterns.
See, when it comes to undergarments, I'm frightfully boring and practical. I buy bras and such in neutral colors like beige, white, pink, etc. For the specific reason that they won't show through my clothes. Well, these do. Big time. Any shirts that are light colored, or made of thinner fabric, I now can't wear. Because the one that popped a wire was my last neutral-colored bra. =/ I swear, I only bought those newer ones because they were the only ones that fit at all, never mind that I didn't want the color. Well, I learned my lesson; never again.
So, I looked around a little at the shops today. But that's typically an exercise in futility. Rural area, not a lot of shops or variety, coupled with my bizarre bra size...I rarely have good luck. And I didn't. So, I went looking online. Now, honestly, I hate buying clothes online. You can't try it on before you buy it, and most of the time, if you have to send things back, you still get stuck paying the shipping. So you're basically paying for the privilege of trying on clothes. Plus, with shipping times coming and going, it takes for-freaking-ever. I hate it. =/
And that's not bad enough, obviously. See, I wear an odd size in bras. I need a larger band size, but a small/medium-ish cup size. And every damn bra manufacturer seems convinced that every woman with a big band size must have really big boobs to go with it. And I don't. So for one, it's a little hard to even find my size. And then when I do find it, it's still often poorly fitted. Because it's designed for a woman with much larger assets than me. So the cut and shape never seems to suit me. Not to mention certain types of bra just don't seem to come in those sizes. Ugh. It's so bloody frustrating. Oh, and the sizes aren't even consistent from one brand to another. So, you can never really be sure you're trying the right size, even.
It's just bizarre. A lot of online shops will let you filter by size, which is nice. But when I put in my size and see what comes up...it's like, the exact opposite of what I'd want to wear. See, I sometimes like a little bit of push-up in a bra. I suppose I'm not technically flat-chested, but my boobs are out of proportion to the rest of me. With the size of my backside, and my gut, they look small. So, I like a little padding; nothing extreme, but a little something. But good luck finding that in my size. No, you know what I keep finding? Minimizers. Yeah. I look flat-chested as it is; the last thing I want is something that's going to flatten me even more! Ugh.
I almost long for the days where you went to a seamstress for you clothes. You'd go in, she'd measure you, and then she'd make what you needed. Sure, it'd be more expensive and time consuming, but at least you could actually get something to fit you! I fucking hate the fashion industry, seriously.
And, on the school front, I've got a paper to write. Now, this wouldn't be so bad, if my professor hadn't gone out of her way to pick the shittiest topics ever. I swear to God, she couldn't have thought up worse ones if she tried. And of course, we can't pick our own topic; it has to be one off the list. So I'm seriously dreading this. I haven't written an essay in years; it's not a real-world skill. So I'm probably a little rusty anyway. And now I have to do it on a terrible topic. I'm cringing already. =P
...Jeez, it's late. I better be getting to bed. Gotta work tomorrow. (Plus schoolwork to do, bleh.)
