Just got back from Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.
IT
FUCKING
RULED.
I was mildly excited for this movie before, but I came out mind blown and in awesome spirits. The people who worked on this movie must of had so much fun working on it. I stepped out of the theater thinking, "That's it. That's what I want to do. I WANT THAT TO BE MY FUTURE". Consider me epiphany- stricken.
Not too bummed that I didn't see it in 3D, 2D was just as good. I loved the harken to the old animation slapstick gags and the style of humor itself had a lot of good, honest laughs from me. Very witty and clever, none of the jokes were forced on you. Also, FLINT IS SUCH AN ADORABLE NUTCASE fgsfds.
Anyway, everyone saying "BAAAW ITS NOTHING LIKE THE BOOK HOLLYWOOD RUINED MY CHILDHOOD" needs to cram it. Even though I feel the whole "Hollywood ruins everything it touches" aesthetic, and I loved the book as a kid, I respect that this movie could be a retelling or even homage to the original story. Book aside, movie seems to hold pretty well enough on its own. Some people are so NO FUN ALLOWED. >:I

Oh well.
Came out of the theater and drew while I waited for mom's movie to finish. These middle schoolers came over to see what I was doing, and basically accompanied me for the whole time I was waiting. I usually don't like being watched while I'm drawing, but kids were actually pretty tolerable, so I didn't mind them hanging around. They asked me to draw them, multiple times.
Hoo boy, people really seem to love it when you draw them. I like that.
Anyway, Linkey's got some debate tournament tomorrow, and I offered to mediate, so I have to wake up early. Gonna be doing writeups and judging and drawing people all day.

I remember what thought I lost! Saw the Astroboy trailer during the previews; looks cute. Its funny- only Atom looks like the original source material. Ochanomizu and everyone else look like American-animation renditions, ha. But I'm not saying that's a totally bad thing. AND WAS THAT MONTBLANC I SAW IN THE TRAILER? I only know who that is because I've been reading a lot of Pluto. By the way, WHERE IS MY VOLUME 5?
