In the past, I've never really eaten bananas enough that I could consider myself a connoisseur. I really thought of them as something that, barring variable degrees of ripeness or being, you know, rotten, a banana pretty much tastes the same every time. But the one I am currently consuming is remarkably lacking in flavor. It tastes kinda... stale. But it's of a reasonable ripeness, somewhere in the middle of the cycle. What gives? Am I just more aware, now that I've been eating them more frequently over the last year or so? Dude! Bananas!

In other news, I think I'll tell you about my weekend. I don't know why I didn't think of this sooner: I can recount recent events even whilst waiting to catalog the events of longer ago. I probably didn't do it because I'm afraid if I spend time talking about now, I just won't bother to go back and talk about then. Well, whatever.

This weekend was fun! Jason arrived on Thursday, just in time for me freaking out (non-visibly, probably, but still...) about the fact that there was a surprise meeting announced for the next morning. A Friday. Surprise Friday meetings? Never good, thought I. Didn't sleep very well that night--felt like I was hyped up on caffeine, only I wasn't. I hadn't had any more than my typical midday diet soda, and none that night. Not even chocolate. Tossed/turned/spronged on the couch for a while before going back to bed. Anyway, then it was morning, and time for work. I went in at a reasonable hour and was even more freaked out when I had a message on my phone (this is abnormal). Checked it... and it was Allister. Weird! Haven't talked to him for a long time, then he calls me at work? I thought he had my home/cell numbers. Maybe I'm mistaken. Anyway, not like I didn't want to hear from him or anything, it was just odd. But yeah. Meeting proceeded, and it was pretty much nothing. Certainly nothing bad, anyway, and not big news. Much ado about nothing.

That night Jason and I went over to G&D's place where the aforementioned four plus Jonathan ate stew, watched Star Trek VI, then played games, which included a lot of Smash, and drank, which included a lot of vodka. Fun stuff! (Interjection: I just finished the banana. It was much more flavorful near the bottom tip. Intriguing.) We stayed overnight; there was lots of room with the couch pushed back, and I slept quite well for it being on a floor! I kinda like sleeping on floors, actually. That's why I didn't push hard to buy a bed as soon as I got here, about 2 years ago. Actually, it'll be two years exactly in two days that I first arrived in Austin. Funny that that anniversary is just the day before G&D ship out. Anyway. Woke up in the morning (read: afternoon), and decided to hit up Chez Zee for brunch, to which Jason and I had never been. Jonathan wasn't feeling well when we got there, though, so David took him home and the remaining three of us ate. It was delicious! I had the Portebellino Benedict. Yums! Also ate about 1/5 of Greg's Crème Brûlée French Toast, which was pretty much like dessert. I think I'll have to go there again. I'm sure my parents would enjoy it, so I'll take them on their next visit if not before.

The rest of the afternoon was spent WoWing; Jason played Antimony from my laptop and I played Aesil, and we took on some baddies alongside Rilinar in Western Plaguelands. I made Friendly with Argent Dawn, and have since gotten up to almost halfway to Honored. I love bombing through quests :) I was also up to around 400g, but then I bought some materials so I can use my Arcanite transmute whenever it's up, and them's expensive! It'll be worth it for those Arcanite bars I sell, though...

Saturday night was the party at Kyle & Erin's house, celebrating several things but mainly Erin's completing the MCAT (just that evening!) and being very excited about not having to study anymore :) So excited that she got drunk within an hour after we got there! Congrats Erin ;) I started out the evening with some Super Mario Bros. 2, since they had an old-skool NES (I can't believe I gave mine up; I hope Mike's taking good care of it). There was much wine, cheese, finger foods, and a delicious chocolate fondue. Mmm! Also Jell-OTM shots. Which we consumed rapidly towards the end of the party. Also at the end of the party, there was more NES, including a lovely Action Pad game called Eggsplode (I got the high score! Woot!) and some Zapper action with Hogan's Alley. They brought out the U-Force for show, but apparently it doesn't work. Soon after: home, sleep.

Sunday was time to sleep in, and then some more WoW, again in WPL. Found several quests. Jason went out to wash his car a little later in the afternoon. I took a shower not long after that. Then it was time for the Goodbye to Austin Party thrown by G&D at Jonathan's. Started out with some good Guitar Hero action with a game of Blokus in between (Jason was cutthroat, as usual--he's very good at screwing others over but not screwing himself over in the process, which really irks me. It's the same thing as with Smash, except here I think there's no honor argument to be made against the behaviour. It's just annoying), then I helped get some We <3 Katamari going for the kids. Delicious cheeseburgers, much chip and salsa-age, and people brought lots of desserts. Jason left at around 7 to go back to Corpus; I was really glad he got to stay for a substantial time at the party :) After that I got to play some piano, and later a game of The Big Idea. I enjoyed it more this time--probably because we were all starting to get a little punchy at that point. David accused me several times of being drunk, but I totally wasn't. I was just bouncy and hyper and thus allowing myself to be more strange than usual. More Guitar Hero at the end of the night. I love that game! And I'm getting better at it :) Then it was time to go. I went home and played more WoW, because I was heavily caffeinated at that point. Stayed up WAY too late. I got about 5 hours of sleep, but it came at the cost of coming in later than usual. No one noticed, though. And I'm not really any more tired than usual, though I'll probably be sorry tomorrow. And now I'm writing this! Whee-ha.

And that was my weekend. Good times had by all!

Ooh, other exciting thing (for me, anyway) is that my Amazon package was delivered! Apparently it was delivered on Thursday, but since it was USPS I only got notice in my mailbox, not on my door--and I check my mailbox very infrequently. But I looked it up online and saw the delivery. So after my 2 o' clock meeting today, my lunch break (which today will be a snack break; I brought a small lunch with me to work) will entail picking up this package and savoring its contents! Joys!

package, goodbye, meeting, wow, banana, food, update, nes, parties, austin
