Regina knew how the world was out there. It was cruel, and wicked, and her own mother was the very source of that. Sometimes, she even doubted Cora had a heart; her merciless magic would never allow something so low as the love between the princess and the stable boy to get in the way of whatever plan she was scheming in her mind.
Yet right now, as Daniel held her in his arms, none of it mattered. They were alone, in the small, little world they could call their own, their stable. Out there, she was the well-behaved princess Regina, daughter of Henry and Cora, but inside those four walls she could be anything she wanted to. And all she wanted to be was the stable boy's secret lover.
So she accepted Daniel's embrace, kissed his soft lips, and allowed him to kiss her neck, making her tickle, just like he knew she liked it. Regina loved him, she truly did, and she knew he loved her back. Not because she was a queen; she could be a peasant for all he cared. And that was pure, sincere... in her life, she doubted she would ever find a love like that.
She was his own queen, the queen of the stable, and that was all the kingdom she needed.
