Title: Sawyer's weakness
Fandom: Lost
Characters: Sawyer, Boone
Rating: PG
Words: 243
Summary: Boone and Sawyer have a little talk after the asthma incident.
Warnings: Gen. Set in early S1 after "Confidence Man".

When Sawyer sat next to him at the beach, Boone should've left. He should've gotten up and avoided him, because he was a wicked evil man and he hated his guts. He hated Sawyer for what he did to his sister, playing them like that, if it hadn't been for Sun and her herbs then Shannon might've...

"I want you to listen up, brother of the year, because I'm only going to say this once" Sawyer spits quickly and in a low voice, as if afraid someone might listen.

Boone tried to ignore the guy, but curiosity got the best of him. "What?"

"I'm not going to say I'm sorry and that shit" the southern man starts "but what I'm gonna say is, I shouldn't have beaten you up. It wasn't right."

"That's the part you're apologizing about?" Boone asks, incredulous. "You played us along while my sister was having an asthma attack!"

"Calm down, drama queen. Nobody died, right? No need to get all melodramatic like that."

"You know what your problem is, Sawyer?" Boone states, geting up. "You don't understand my need to protect Shannon. But I understand it, you know. How could you? You have no one who loves you, after all."

Boone walks away after saying that, without looking back, hoping those words would make any sense to the man. They probably wouldn't, but at least he tried.

Those words shook Sawyer more than he ever cared to admit.
