Steve had to have a dog. The last thing I wanted was to have to house train a puppy while potty training a 3 year old who is allergic to dogs and still chases the cat from time to time.
The good thing is the dog he decided on is a chihuahua. Little dog = little messes, and chis are low on the allergy scale. I was up a lot last night taking him out to go potty, but he's really quick about it, which impressed me. He had one accident in the house this morning while Steve was watching him so that I could sleep, which I cleaned up with vinegar after I woke up(grrr, bad Steve) but other than that I've managed to get him outside in time. He kind of looks like a little rat still, but a cute little rat.
