Working from home inevitably involves a series of cascading tasks that must be accomplished before any real work gets done. For example, if I am going to work, first I need to eat, because I am hungry and at home and I can eat whenever I want. But if I am going to eat, first I need to clean the kitchen a bit, because I find it depressing and difficult to prepare food in a dirty or cluttered kitchen (especially if the clutter is not mine). But if I am going to clean the kitchen, I should probably put in a load of laundry first, because then I will be able to switch it around after I am done with lunch, and won't that be a wonderful and economic use of my time? But if I am going to start doing laundry, then first I have to unpack from my trip and gather the laundry (dirty towels and such) from the rest of the apartment. And if I am going to start doing all that housework, first I need to put some music on. And so on... but in the meantime, I am too hungry to concentrate on doing anything else, so instead I post to LJ. And now that I am wrapping up this post, I think I am going to go grab some bread & cheese & fruit, retreat quickly to the living room, and watch some Doctor Who season 4 while eating my lunch.

Oh well, you know what: I am going to enjoy this snow day! Just try and stop me!
