This is what I look for in a man
I don't know what compels me to share this with the world, or the e-world, but about a month ago, I compiled this list of qualities that I look for in a man. Perhaps this is a lot to ask? But I don't think so. And I feel that it is always helpful to have a list to guide you in whatever pursuit you may be on. This is what I came up with:
- Has a serious creative outlet-- a writer or musician or an artist. No actors. Filmmakers are ok if they're not pompous.
- Man hands
-Taller than me, no midgets
-No crew cuts
-Baseball caps only on rare occasions
-None of those slimy windbreaker jackets that my grandpa wears
-must have a sense of style, but not be vain
-must have good taste in music, but not be an asshole about it
-must be open-minded
-not a Republican
-Must think liberally, creatively, and innovatively(?) I'm not sure what I mean by "thinking innovatively", but I'll know it when I see it.
-Should want to Damn the Man.
-Must make me think. We should not clash, but he should not blindly agree with me. He should have a mind of his own and force me to look at things in a new way.
-Must read regularly.
-Must watch the news or read the paper or something
-Must care about the human race as a whole
-ABSOLUTELY must not be a homophobe or a racist. Not even a little bit.
-Must know how to have a good time but not want to party ALL the time.
-Must not do any hard drugs
-Should like to look at art.
-Should drink at least as much coffee as I do (a number which is constantly in flux, sometimes this will be an easy quota to meet, sometimes not so much)
-Must not stigmatize smokers.
-Should not watch too many sports.
-Should be ok with spending lots of time sitting around at home, laying around in grass, etc...
-Must not hate on Texas, Mexico, France, the Middle East, or any other geographic region
-Only the mildest manner of Christians, if he must.
-Should like to go for walks.
-Non-materialistic
-Should care about politics
-Should be able to take care of himself. If I want to do your laundry, I will, but I am not your mother.
-Should be open to meeting new people
-Should not be loud and overbearing
-When partying, should at least remember to make sure my drunk ass gets home.
-No creepy Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, or Harry Potter nerds.
-Must be nice to me.
-Must return calls as well as make them regularly.
-Must not sell out in five years and become a lawyer or a banker or anything of the like. I suppose doctors do save lives though. But I don't see myself with a doctor.
-Tattoos are encouraged. No tribals.
-Must be willing to tolerate children some day. No kid haters.
-Should at least consider someday growing a beard. And I mean a real beard, not a pansy ass goatee that we all got over ten years ago.
-Should be open to not living in the same place forever, even if it's awesome.
-No techno. Some exceptions may apply. But not many.
So there. I suppose it is a long list, but I think that these items are pretty basic. So now that we all understand the requirements, please feel free to send any applicants in my direction.
