Time to start again

Summer I classes start Monday. I've just got one 2-credit class, but since it lasts for just 5 weeks instead of 15, it'll be more like a 6-hour course. My textbook arrived from Amazon yesterday ($20 cheaper than the bookstore!), and I've got to read the first four chapters before class Monday evening. I've also got some articles to read and videos to watch...it should be an interesting class, though. It's on Classroom Assessment, so basically I'll be learning how to test my students to make sure they are learning what they should be learning. Also, it appears like there are no tests, just one bring project that you complete in stages over the five weeks. I prefer projects to tests...with a project, there are no unexpected surprises.

I'm meeting with Kim at Jellycamps today to discuss my work schedule for the summer. I'm hoping to work at much as possible, but at least 20-25 hours a week. My tutoring will be slower in the summer, and I need to stockpile funds to 1) pay for my on-campus tuition in the fall, and 2) save for next spring, when I will be student teaching and will not be able to work much at all. I am hoping that I will receive a scholarship from my church, which will help with the tuition, but no guarantees on that. So, the main plan is to work and save as much as I can. Mike and I have the money in savings to pay for tuition/live, but I'd rather not use all our savings if possible!

Anyway, I'm really excited about my class starting...yes, I would have loved to have an actual summer vacation, but I'm a geek at heart, and I love the start of a new semester!
