After a month

May 03, 2011 09:13

Wow. It's been a month since my last update...I've been getting pretty slack on the blog front. Of course, that could be due to all the work for school, tutoring, volunteering, etc. I can remember back when I updated every day. That was back during sophomore year of college; I was new to LiveJournal, and I spent almost all of my free time on my computer. That was seven years ago. It's crazy to think how long it's been.

Spring semester is wrapping up. I'm turning in my final project of the semester this afternoon. After that, I've got three exams. I finish up exactly one week from today. Only one more year to go, and I'll have my Master's! I get a two-week break between spring classes and summer classes...it's not much, but I'll take it!

I applied for a scholarship at my church. Most of the scholarships are for graduating high school seniors; in fact, I received one when I graduated from high school. However, one of the women's circles offers a scholarship that women over 23 can apply for. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll get it, because every little bit helps! Especially since I'm paying for my degree on my own...school is much more stressful when you've got to shell out the cash to pay for it. And, I've got on-campus classes in the fall, which are twice as expensive as classes taught at Athens Drive High. It's going to be tight, and it's going to put a dent in our savings, but I'm considering it to be an investment in my future. Actually, I'm kind of proud that Mike and I have done so well living on one and a half incomes, paying all our bills, etc. We've even done some home improvements! Here's to budgeting skills!

And, because it's of national significance, I'll comment about the recent death of Osama bin Laden. I wouldn't say that I'm cheering in the streets, but I'm happy I don't have to worry about him anymore. The events of September 11th are still clear in my mind, even though it's been almost ten years. He's standing before God now, and I believe that he will be judged for his actions, as we all are. I could say a lot more about the issue, but I think I'll leave it at that.

Well, back to studying. One week to go!
