epic blizzard
snow days are pretty much the best things ever.
my boss called today to say that the roads were still too dangerous to be driving, and further, no one else would be leaving their houses, so we may as well not even open. after some 30 hours it continues to snow, so i think this was a good call on her part. really. i haven't had a weather-related day off since i was in 10th grade, and it is bloody awesome.
random, fun fact: i hate Time. they have this amazing ability to recognize a situation for what it is, and yet to completely and fantastically misunderstand the significance of it. anyone with a feminist bent should take a look at this article and tell me if it does indeed imply what i think it does, or if i am just reading between the lines too much. (i think it implies that women are more empowered than ever and unhappy because of it, while men long for the good ol' days and are unhappy because they pine--which is, i think, incorrect in the cause-effect relationship.) anyway, i have overwhelming personal bias, so i'm not sure my opinion counts.
now, off to clean the ever-loving daylights out of my apartment before my mom comes to visit this weekend. poor lady is suffering some wicked empty-nest syndrome, and a spontaneously planned visit will hopefully soothe that.
