Rating: PG
Series: Movieverse (pre-DotM)
Pairings: Ironhide/Sideswipe
Summary: The war is all but over, but Sideswipe still feels the need to put in some form of weapons training.
Warnings: None
Disclaimer: As per usual, the good things in life are not mine to have, but belong to someone else... in this case Hasbro, Takara and IDW and anyone else I’ve forgotten…
Authors Notes: This is for the tf_rare_pairing prompt - Ironhide/Sideswipe - weapons training.  Ties in with Directionless.  How it turned schmoopy, I’m not entirely sure…
Feedback makes friends.  Flames dealt with by the masters of paranoia and fire, Red Alert and Inferno.

“Where are they?” Ratchet growled, looking around the hanger they used for recharge.
“Not here.” The purple Arcee component shrugged.
“They’re training.” Jolt offered.  “Least that’s what Sideswipe said he was going to grab Ironhide for.”
“Weapons training.” The pink Arcee component agreed.  “Sideswipe said he wanted to practise again.”
“I think he feels left out now the war is all but over.” The blue Arcee component added.
“Weapons training…” Ratchet shook his head and left, intent on returning to his medbay area.  And going nowhere near the training room.  “Is that what they’re calling it now…”

Sideswipe skated around Ironhide, grinning at the large black mech.  Arm blades out, he looked every inch the fearsome warrior he was.  Except for the ridiculous smile on his face.
“Wipe that smile off yer faceplates.” Ironhide growled, one cannon whirring, showing his agitation.  Sideswipe just shrugged, sliding to a stop in front of Ironhide.
“You want it off, wipe it off yourself.” He challenged, raising his blades.  Ironhide growled again, the only warning Sideswipe got before the mech lunged at him.  Only Sideswipe’s quick reflexes kept him from being flattened.  As it was, Ironhide managed to grip on to one wheel as he danced back out of the way.  He used that as leverage to pull Sideswipe to the floor.

Sideswipe grunted as he hit the floor, plating protesting the sharp impact.  He actually squeaked as Ironhide dragged him closer, plating scraping across the rough ground.
“Smile ain’t there now, is it?” Ironhide grinned.  Sideswipe opened his mouth to retort, but anything he was about to say was muffled as Ironhide kissed him.  Ironhide pulled back with a victorious smile.  Sideswipe didn’t say anything, but pulled him back for another kiss.  Ironhide moaned, rolling so that he was pinning Sideswipe to the floor.
“Yield?” He asked, voice a little gruffer than normal.
“If it gets me more of that, I yield.” Sideswipe smirked.  Ironhide shook his  head.
“We’ve done more ‘facing that we’ve done training.” He muttered.
“Are you complaining?” Sideswipe retracted an arm blade so he could stroke up Ironhide’s arm.  He could feel Ironhide’s field react to that, spark pulsing a little faster.
“Not as such.” Ironhide admitted.  Knowing that Sideswipe found him attractive, at least attractive enough to ‘face made him happy.  It meant that he wasn’t quite ‘past it’ yet.
“What?” Sideswipe looked at Ironhide carefully, not quite sure what was wrong.
“Why me?” Ironhide asked, easing up so Sideswipe could slip out.  Wouldn’t do to have a serious conversation when he was pinning the mech to the floor.

“Why you?” Sideswipe repeated.  He’d rolled out from under Ironhide and was sitting watching him.  “Because…”
“Because?” Ironhide prompted.
“Because…” Sideswipe got to his wheels and skated to the wall, leaning against it.  “Because of everything.” He glanced at Ironhide, not really given to soppy declarations.
“Of everything?” Ironhide rose to his feet and moved to lean next to Sideswipe.
“Everything.” Sideswipe nodded.  “You’ve been my mentor for years, and also my friend.”
“And now?” Ironhide asked, not exactly sure why he was pressing for so many answers.  Perhaps it was because he needed to know where he stood with Sideswipe.
“And now…” Sideswipe echoed, twisting to look at Ironhide.  “I think of you as my lover.  My partner.”  Ironhide didn’t say anything for long moments, and Sideswipe thought that perhaps his admission had just ruined whatever they had.  Then Ironhide was pulling him close again, kissing him fiercely.  He didn’t need Ironhide to say anything, his actions were more than enough.  Confirmation that he wasn’t losing Ironhide.  Confirmation that he belonged somewhere.  That they belonged somewhere.
