There was more to them than the gestalt programming.  That was part of them, yes, but there was more to it than that.  Not that anybody realised.  Well, perhaps Devastator and the Constructicons, but no one else.

There was also the thought that all Decepticon combiners were stupid.  Which was something they perpetrated and didn’t bother to correct anyone on.  Much better they were thought dumb and idiotic rather than a conniving sum of all their parts and more.

They were both young gestalts, though for different reasons.  Bruticus’ component parts were old, but the gestalt technology that had been installed was new.  Menasor was young in both age of its components and its gestalt form.  At least Menasor had known nothing more than gestalt.  Together, they were learning.

And they were learning about more than just what it takes to be gestalt.  They were learning that overloads could affect all their components.  That a gentle touch up Menasor’s leg would have Breakdown being calm for the next week.  That Bruticus allowed touches to his right arm was something that Blast Off would have never allowed.  The gestalt was more than just its parts.  Yet nobody but them knew.

And that was the way they wanted to keep it.

“Until next time.” Bruticus muttered, voice washing over Menasor’s antenna and making the younger gestalt squirm.  One last kiss and they broke apart, Bruticus to return to the Combaticons secret headquarters.

Motormaster onlined in the middle of a pile of Stunticons, the gestalt overload still thrumming through his circuits.  He actually smiled and pulled Dead End a little closer before succumbing to recharge once more.
