rhododendron is a nice flower

Sunday night after dinner with Greg's parents at the Nebraska Brewing Co. and a couple rounds of Mexican Train dominoes, I made a pizza noodle casserole and once again, my efforts were not wasted. It made enough to feed us for two nights and was really tasty to boot.

Luckily Jason called last night while we were eating said casserole while watching 24 to remind Greg that it is their mom's birthday today. I thought all the cards displayed on their buffet when we were over there the other evening or when she showed him the bracelet that his sister Karen made her for her birthday might have tipped him off but it didn't. Can you say clueless? No one except for me remembers the conversation a while back about chipping in to buy her a really nice electric mixer but he saved the day by having flowers delivered so she's none the wiser.

Greg will likely be working a lot in the upcoming months, both at work and on the house, which should give me a lot of extra time to read, knit, cook, and knock things off my bucket list. Can't afford to do much shopping though I did finally pony up and buy my dream shoes (see 1/26) using a $50 gift card won at the college's holiday party to offset the cost.

Last night for the first time he mentioned the possibility of looking for an apartment together later this year instead of a house right away. I think he's starting to get worried that with the current economy, he won't make what he wants off his place but I got to thinking later that perhaps there's more to it than that. As in, it'd be a "trial run" living together before making the major commitment of a shared mortgage. But then again this is a man who forgets his mother's birthday so who knows what he thinks? Actually, it's really not such a bad idea as I get cold feet sometimes myself.

I've added the outlet mall to my bucket list. It's been ages since I've been to Nebraska Crossing.
