Nothing to say about the plane ride back except that I read Slightly Settled, a chick lit book that Jenni loaned me (oh, the irony!) and that it was very, very cold in the cabin. My feet were like blocks of ice by the time we landed in Omaha. Suzanne was there to pick me up but declined the offer of lunch as the kids had been sick recently and it was close to their naptime. Instead, I spent the afternoon picking up all two pieces of my mail at the post, grocery shopping at Ghetto Frills and getting pretty to see Greg that evening. Though we talked on the phone every night we hadn't seen each other in six days. The reunion was fun if a bit anticlimactic. After hugs and kisses, we made chicken soup and watched the next episode of Michael Palin's Around the World in 80 Days, back to the usual routine.
Wednesday was the three hours LOST season premiere, an event I’d been looking forward to more than Christmas. We both started off in a good mood but Greg got more negative and crabby as the night wore on and as a result, so was I by the time I left just after 10pm. He’s starting to prepare for all the work that needs to be done to the house before it sells which I know will be stressful, time consuming and expensive. I expected him to complain a lot, just not this much this soon, and truthfully, it makes me wonder if there’s not more to it underneath the surface but only time will tell and I need to keep my lip zipped in the meantime so I don’t go off and say something that I regret later.
Thursday night I went to dinner and out shopping with Sandy while she’s in town. I’ve been on a quest for a new winter coat to replace the one that becoming tattered on the inside. Found one at Burlington Coat Factory though I don’t think it’s quite as warm as the other which will stay in my closet at the ready, at least until this cold snap is over.
Last night we helped the economy at Backwoods semi-annual sale and went to dinner at Casio’s. Like J.D. and Turk on Scrubs, a periodic Steak Night is in order. Full of red meat, we fell asleep around 10:30 and slept in 'til 8:00. Somewhere in between I found him on the couch saying it was too cold and loud in the bedroom and he wasn’t that nice about it. I sometimes wonder if we’ll end up in separate rooms eventually like his neighbors Anna and Mike, if we even make it that far. Though progress is being made since he’s off right now buying supplies to fix up the kitchen. Later we’ll hit the gym, make dinner at his place and probably watch a movie.
Tomorrow will likely include the gym and I should see my dad since it’s his 62nd birthday on Monday provided it doesn’t snow six inches. Though Greg said the other night that he couldn’t wait for 2009 to be over, I think it’s been pretty good so far, especially since we’ve been on good behavior. Sometimes something seems amiss though that’s probably just the nature of a relationship entering its third year. Either that or I’m paranoid (though less so than I used to be!).
