Greg emailed saying that he would be taking a long walk this evening after work to make up for our unhealthy backsliding ways yesterday.
I did find a couple things for Emma at the book fair. Along with a small stuffed sea turtle and accompanying book, I got her:
- Days With Frog and Toad and
- Charlotte's Web
The latter two I read as a child. Her English has improved already just by being here so I figure even if she's not able to read these now, she soon will.
My student assistant did not show, sending yet another email 20 minutes after her shift was to start saying she wouldn't be here so I fired her now rather than wait until fall semster. I replied something to the effect that it seemed that her plate was too full to continue working for us and with our small staff, we really need someone who can be flexible and dependable. Good Lord, I've never met anyone with less of a work ethic than this girl and pray that she never becomes my nurse if she even makes it that far. Looks like we'll be starting from scratch this fall and I'll be doubly careful who I hire. Also, as of now email is no longer an acceptable means of communication for calling in. It never really has been but it's never been abused the way it has this semester. In 7 years I've never not had a student back - she's the first.
It's so nice out, I'm actually looking forward to JOTG.
