about stuff

Yesterday was probably one of the top ten days of the year, weather-wise, which is why my boss was smart and took PTO. I'm thinking I need to take a MHD (mental health day) soon, myself, and why not? I've got roughly 120 vacation hours with no immediate vacation plans. There's a very narrow window of time semi-annually in which the attic can be cleaned without either freezing or melting and we're in it right now. Time's-a-wastin' ...

Last night we took a walk down the Blvd again before engaging in our own separate tasks. At 68º, it was easily the warmest it's been in the house for six months. I finally started on the seasonal clothing switcheroo and realized that I do have a boatload of clothes despite all the boxes I've gotten rid of earlier this year though it doesn't seem like I shop all that often. There's work casual, work dressy, around-the-house, going-out casual, going-out dressy, formal, sleepwear, scummy dog-walkin', seasonal … you get the idea. To my credit (or not?) many of them are thrift store treasures, happy accidental finds or hand-me-up's from my sisters.

Bruce wanted me to teach him how to make meatloaf which I did. When I started demonstrating instead of explaining, he became almost childlike - "No, let me do it! I want to do it!" It was kinda cute. Turned out a bit dry but nothing that a little gravy couldn't fix. I told him it was awesome.

Best wishes going out to ecotopian who is having brain surgery today (right this moment as a matter of fact) and also to his wife mantofev who is probably anxiously pacing the waiting room. I'll be thinking of you both all day. When this is all over, we should have a party at Caffeine Dreams!
